TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - Soekarno-Hatta Airport is prepared to welcome the arrival of 20 national teams participating in the U-17 World Cup 2023, which are scheduled to start arriving in Indonesia on November 1.
“The national teams of Argentina, Senegal, and Burkina Faso have arrived via Soekarno-Hatta Airport on November 1,” the airport’s executive general manager, Dwi Ananda Wicaksana, said on Thursday, November 2.
Dwi said the airport had set up a help desk and a fast-track immigration lane as well as a special lane in the customs area of the arrival terminal.
He said the assistance and fast-track lanes were aimed at ensuring the smooth arrival of each national team, which consisted of around 30-40 people per team, including teams in transit to continue their flights to the cities hosting the youth tournament.
In addition, Dwi said the airport management also arranged a special area as a pick-up or loading zone in the arrival curbside area of the terminal.
As widely reported, four Indonesian cities will host the international match, namely Jakarta, Bandung, Solo, and Surabaya. Most of the participants arrived via Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Banten.
Muhammad Awaluddin, the President Director of the airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II), said all stakeholders had worked together to guarantee the service and safety of Soekarno-Hatta Airport in welcoming the U-17 World Cup participating countries, as well as match officials and FIFA representatives.
