Jokowi Inaugurates Trans-Sumatra Toll Road Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo officially inaugurated the Trans-Sumatra toll road at the Indralaya-Prabumulih route on Thursday, October 26, 2023. The toll road has been operating since the end of August.
The development of this toll road costs over Rp12.5 trillion in investment. "It will be great if we could boost productivity by connecting the toll road to agriculture, tourism, farming, and industrial areas, the benefits we reap would have been extraordinary," he said.
The Indralaya-Prabumulih route was a national strategic project developed by PT Hutama Karya, stretching along 64.5 kilometers.
Jokowi inaugurated the toll road at its Zero Point, accompanied by a number of his ministers, South Sumatra's Acting Governor Agus Fatoni, Ogan Ilir Mayor Panca Wijaya Akbar, Prabumulih Acting Mayor Elman, and President Director of Hutama Karya Budi Harto.
According to EVP Secretary of Hutama Karya Tjahjo Purnomo, this toll road was developed to facilitate public mobility. The toll road cut down more than an hour of trip to commute between neighboring towns, he added.
Indralaya-Prabumulih toll road was a result of collaboration between Hutama Karya's subsidiaries PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) and PT Hakaaston (HKA). The toll road is supported by various facilitating structures such as 2 interchanges, 8 overpasses, 10 bridges, 10 box underpasses, 2 box underpasses, 22 box pedestrians, 1 toll gate, 1 Type A rest area, and planned velocity up to 100 kilometers per hour.
Hutama Karya has developed over 1,021.5 kilometers of Trans-Sumatra toll road, with 339.5 kilometers of construction toll road and 682 kilometers of operation toll road.
