TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Acting Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono ensured that its regional government will help socialize the U-17 World Cup intensively to increase participation from the public. "To increase public participation, the first thing to do is deploy mascots and do it similar to car-free day events," he said while attending the trophy exhibition of the U-17 World Cup on Sunday.
Heru Budi mentioned that the provincial government of Jakarta including the Civil State Apparatus (ASN) at the Sports Office will actively participate in the socialization of the U-17 World Cup. According to the governor, by involving ASNs, the message of this tournament will reach a wider audience to create rising enthusiasm and participation in regard to the event.
"All Jakartan officials in 36 to 40 regional offices will be employed to spread the words [of U-17 World Cup], starting from the Sports Office to the mayors," he said.
The Jakartan government also prepared a training field facility in Banteng Field, and joint security apparatus to ensure the safety of the World Cup. He hopes the collaboration and coordination with all stakeholders will guarantee the safety of this international event.
The president of PSSI Erick Thohir expressed his gratitude for the support from the regional governments including Jakarta in promoting the World Cup.
Erick mentioned that FIFA is targeting the audience to reach 10 to 18 thousand people for each match. "The target must be fulfilled with mutual effort. Mr. Governor [Heru Budi] and I are committed to making sure there are at least 10,000 tickets sold. We will try in every way," he stated.
The U-17 World Cup will be held from November 2 to December 2 in four stadiums, namely Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) in Jakarta, Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung, Manahan Stadium in Solo, and Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya.
