1. TikTok Shop Discontinuation Will Not Shut MSMEs Business, Minister Says Many Alternatives
TikTok Shop has been officially closed down on Wednesday, October 5, 2023. Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Teten Masduki said that TikTok Shop's discontinuation will not shut down the businesses of MSMEs.
According to the minister, MSMEs can change to other e-commerce platforms that have the permit to trade through electronic systems (PMSE) in Indonesia.
2. MRT Jakarta Targets to Develop Park and Ride at Lebak Bulus Station
PT Mass Rapid Transit, or MRT Jakarta is exploring three areas to develop the park and ride spaces around Lebak Bulus Station. The area will be developed with a parking and business area concept.
The Head of the Transit Oriented Development Division at MRT Jakarta Gunawan mentioned that the park and ride concept will support retail activities; from MSMEs to sports centers.
3. Govt, AICC Discuss Indonesia-U.S. Trade Relations
Indonesian Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry Sambuaga attended a meeting with the American Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (AICC) in New York.
"We have identified several measures to be taken together, including the measures to boost the penetration of Indonesian food and beverage products in the US. Especially in the Asian and Latin America market segment which has grown in population in the US, and the measures to safeguard the US' critical minerals issue," he said in a written statement received by Tempo on October 5.
