TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian National Railways Company (PT KAI) is offering 20% discounted executive, business, and economy class train tickets for passengers with disabilities. The promo will be implemented for tickets with a departure date starting from September 17, 2023.
Public Relations Manager of KAI Yogyakarta Franoto Wibowo explained that the discounted tickets will be implemented permanently without a time limit. "The permanent discount for passengers with disabilities is a gift from KAI on National Customer Day for our sisters and brothers with long-term physical, intellectual, mental, and/or sensory limitations," he said when asked for confirmation from Tempo on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
Franoto then explained that to enjoy the discount, the passenger needed to do a one-time registration with the station's customer service at least two days before the departure date. The registration required a doctor's statement from a hospital or medical facility confirming that the passenger has a disability.
The registration can be represented by other people bringing the passenger's photo and ID card. After completing the registration, discounted tickets can be obtained from the Access application or directly from the station's locket.
One thing to note, passengers with disabilities are obliged to show their ID card or their doctor's statement at the boarding gate. Failure to comply with the requirement, Franoto said, will result in the ticket being annulled and being kicked off the train at the nearest stop.
For further information, customers may contact KAI's Customer Service at the Station or KAI's Contact Center at 121, WhatsApp at 08111-2111-121, or e-mail at cs@kai.id, as well as KAI's social media at KAI121.
"This discount will allow passengers with disabilities to travel safely, comfortably, and on time," Franoto concluded.
