TEMPO.CO, Solo - The Chief of the Indonesian Football Association, or PSSI, Erick Thohir, watched the match between the Indonesia U-23 national team versus Taiwan in the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qualification round at Manahan Solo Stadium, Saturday night, September 9. The security at the stadium was tightened.
Based on Tempo's monitoring in the field, Erick was seen entering the arena at VVIP seat a few minutes before the match started at 19:00.
Joint personnel of Solo City Police Resort officers and several other authorities closely secure the area in anticipation of any security disturbances during the match.
Chief of Solo Police Resort Sr. Comsr. Iwan Saktiadi said that at least 860 personnel were deployed to secure the match between the U-23 national teams of Indonesia and Taiwan.
The joint team includes personnel of Solo City Resort Police, Mobile Brigade of Yon C, resort police in six regencies in the Solo area, the military or TNI, the military police detachment, the Solo City Transportation Department, and the city's public order enforcers police or Satpol PP.
"Today, [the security officers are] set to standby in ring two and ring three at the Manahan Solo Stadium," Iwan told journalists ahead of the match, on Saturday, September 9. He added that the security in ring one was carried out by the organizing committee, security officers, and PSSI.
The security was equipped with armored vehicles, water cannons, and Barracudas to anticipate any disturbances. "Before the match takes place, the stadium is also sterilized," he said.
Iwan stated that in this security system, his party prioritized preventive measures in securing the match. The police do not allow spectators to bring sharp weapons, firearms, food, cigarettes, flair, liquor, drugs, or even bottles or cans.
