TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati mentioned that realizing sustainable development in Indonesia will require US$200 billion investment for the next 10 years. The information was relayed during the series of ASEAN Finance Minister and Central Bank Governors meetings in Jakarta on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.
Meanwhile, innovative and environmentally-friendly development finance is necessary to carry out efforts of economic transformation, In the context of the Finance Ministry, several programs to realize sustainability has been implemented, such as the fiscal incentive to attract investment and direct them to green projects and green industries.
In addition, said the minister, the other incentive given to investors is a tax holiday or tax allowance. Indonesia is also in the process of implementing a regulation concerning carbon trading as an instrument to reduce GHG emissions.
The minister also emphasized the importance of cooperation in order to establish energy-efficient buildings and housings by limiting energy consumption while paying attention to ventilation and cooling system.
"We are appreciative of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing's program for one million houses and retrofit with green housing concept," said Sri Mulyani.
Therefore, Sri Mulyani strives to continue urging stakeholders to collaborate on sustainable development, one of which is through policy framework. The framework will develop regulations and instruments to realize funding for green housing in Indonesia.
