TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia, or BI, launched QRIS Tuntas as the gift for Indonesia's 78th Independence Day commemoration on Thursday, August 17, 2023. QRIS Tuntas is a new innovation by QRIS that features several services such as cash withdrawal, transfer, and cash deposit.
"We're consistent in digitizing Indonesia through the digitalization of payment system, new innovation, and synergizing with Indonesia association of payment system," said BI Governor Perry Warjiyo at his office complex on Thursday, August 17.
He explained that QRIS Tuntas will expand the network and service of QRIS, as it could be used by those who do not have a bank account. "People who are not yet connected with banking service can use electronic money."
Perry Warjiyo went on to say that QRIS Tuntas would be available for public use at least on September 1 and the latest on November 30, 2023. It depends on the readiness of each payment vendor.
To withdraw cash via QRIS Tuntas, people are charged Rp6,500. The BI Governor said that the amount is cheaper than ATM transactions at Rp7,500 or other agents with a fee ranging from Rp10,000 to Rp20,000.
"This is the gift for the people," Perry Warjiyo remarked.
