TEMPO.CO, Magelang - Bank Indonesia, or BI, recorded that the use of the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) in the country reached 184.29 million transactions.
"The number grew 152 percent from the previous transaction," said BI director of the payment system policy department, Fitria Irmi Triswati, at a seminar in Magelang, Central Java on Tuesday, July 8.
She explained that the number was equal to Rp18.08 trillion transactions, or grew by 175 percent. "We will continue to encourage the use of QRIS and digitize transactions so that they continue to grow," she said.
In addition, Fitria went on, QRIS is able to facilitate people in managing their finances as it is recorded digitally both for the users and the merchants. "For merchants, QRIS could widen the financial access by building credit scoring and increasing business income for merchants."
She, therefore, invited people especially the millennials to utilize the potential of digital payment systems in more integrated financial planning such as the latest payment channel, QRIS, accompanied by the awareness of the security of digital transactions.
Fitria views QRIS as a game changer in payments aimed at accelerating digital economic and financial inclusion.
