TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned train manufacturer PT Industri Kereta Api (INKA) stated that the construction of Greater Jakarta light rail transit or LRT Jabodebek is in accordance with the technical specification set by PT KAI as the operator of the driverless train.
“We produced the trains according to the specifications,” INKA Senior Manager of Public Relations and Representative Office, Agung Dwi Cahyono, confirmed to Tempo on Thursday, August 3, 2023.
However, Agung refused to elaborate on the rising issue of conformity between the manufacturing specification and the order. “That’s it for now,” he said.
INKA’s brief confirmation was released in response to Deputy SOE Minister Kartika Wirjoatmodjo’s statement that 31 train sets of the automated train have different specifications. Consequently, each train set requires software system repair at a high cost.
Additionally, Kartika said there is a faulty design in the curved long-span bridge because of a sharp turn, causing the trains to run slow in crossing the bridge.
President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo also responded to the issue. He emphasized that it is acceptable if there are problems in the operation of LRT Jabodebek as it is the country’s first homegrown project.
