Jakarta's Tebet Eco Park Wins Singapore's Design of The Year Award

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tebet Eco Park received the President*s Design Award (P*DA) 2023 Design of the Year from the Design Singapore Council on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. The biennial award has two categories; Designer of the Year and Design of the Year.
“Congratulations to the eight recipients for their extraordinary and meaningful contributions tackling increasingly complex local and global challenges across design disciplines,” the Design Singapore Council published the announcement on its page pda.designsingapore.org.
Tebet Eco Park was honored along with five other projects, namely CapitaSpring, Singapore Pavilion Expo 2020 Dubai, Hack Care: Tips and Tricks for a Dementia-friendly Home, R for Repair, and State Courts Towers.
In the Designer of the Year category, the recipients were Leonard Ng Keok Poh, Country Market Director of Henning Larsen Asia Pacific, and Ar. Tan Kay Ngee, Principal Architect of Kay Ngee Tan Architects.
Designer of Tebet Eco Park, Anton Siura from Siura Studio, recorded Singapore’s President*s Design Award as the third award. Previously, the park received Semec Gold Award and the Singapore Landscape Architecture Awards (SILA) in 2022.
Anton explained that the park was designed by employing three main concepts in its development: ecological function, social space, education, and recreation.
Opened and inaugurated by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan in April 2022, Anton said he received a lot of positive responses from many communities and design observers.
“This opens the government's eyes to what the community needs in terms of good parks for all, especially in Jakarta,” Anton said on Thursday, July 13, 2023.
Tebet Eco Park is one of 400 parks built and revitalized during the era of Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan. When it was first inaugurated, visitors exceeded 150,000 in a week.
