TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bali Immigration Office deported an American man named Thomas Charles Flach (TCF) on Tuesday, July 11, for damaging a National Police official car in Denpasar.
“After being detained for 26 days, we finally deported the American national to his country of origin with the help of his friends for the cost,” Head of Denpasar Immigration Detention Center, Babay Baenullah, said in Denpasar, Wednesday, July 12, 2023.
TCF could finally return to Los Angeles after getting money to buy a plane ticket from a friend, so he had to be temporarily detained at the immigration since his arrest on Thursday, June 15, 2023.
Bali Regional Police named TCF as a suspect for the alleged crime of making unpleasant acts and vandalism according to Articles 335 and 406 of the Criminal Code. He also allegedly violated Article 75 Paragraph 1 of Immigration Law No. 6 of 2011.
Apart from being deported, the 44-year-old man is included on the list of entry ban as in line with the Indonesian Immigration Law.
In mid-June, TCF flagged down the police official car on Jalan By Pass Ngurah Rai Sanur Denpasar. Donning a black long-sleeved shirt and white head coverings, he suddenly smacked the vehicle’s hood and damaged the car.
It was later found out after an investigation that the foreign tourist made the act spontaneously after losing his personal belongings, including his passport. The video of him damaging the police car went viral on social media.
