Top Chefs to Spice Up Ubud Food Festival 2023

30 June 2023 13:49 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - One of Asia’s leading culinary celebrations, the Ubud Food Festival, has returned for 2023 on June 30th and will last until July 2nd. This festivity for foodies is set to present more than 100 world-renowned chefs.

According to Janet DeNeefe, founder and director of the festival on Thursday (29/6) stated “We will present more than 100 culinary experts from Indonesia, Southeast Asia, and other parts of the world.”

The event involves young talented chefs, restaurateurs, mixologists, food writers to entrepreneurs.

This year’s Ubud Food Festival will showcase events that are free of charge and events with a paywall, among them are cooking workshops, special events, panel discussions, food tourism, food stalls, movie screenings, and musical concerts.

Renowned Korean-American TV star Judy Joo will also be performing at UFF for the second time after what she said was her first memorable experience visiting Bali.

“I really fell in love with the rich traditions and culture of local food,” said Judy Joo.

Judy Joo will lead a Korean BBQ masterclass guiding participants to prepare Korean BBQ meat and Gochujang coated salmon. Meanwhile, New Zealand TV star Robert Oliver and Fiji-Samoan chef Sangeeta Maharaj will also participate and present a feast of unique Polynesian flavors.

Representing Indonesian gastronomy, one of the chefs who will be attending is Hans Christian from August, a fine-dining restaurant that is listed as Asia's best restaurant. Blake Thornley of Mozaic will also be bringing a collaborative fine-dining experience.

Indonesian chef Theodora Poeradisastra will also be serving five dishes using ingredients sourced from the local super organic resort garden with chef Mangku from Gdas. Rahel Stephanie of Spoons in London, along with the team from W/T/Me and RAMU Executive Chef Joshira Yugopradana will concoct plant-based ingredients to encapsulate the rich flavors of Indonesian spices.

The 2023 Ubud Food Festival is in its sixth year after it was first launched in 2015.
