TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Covid-19 handling task force spokesperson Wiku Adisasmito on Thursday explained that the treatment costs for coronavirus patients and the cost of vaccinations will still be covered by the government.

“Currently, vaccination and the handling or medical treatment for Covid-19 patients are still guaranteed by the government,” said Wiku in a press conference on Thursday, June 22.

Previously on Wednesday, June 21, President Jokowi officially lifted the coronavirus pandemic status and aims to announce it as an endemic. The president said the reason for this is backed by daily covid cases confirmation that he said is close to zero. He also claims 99 percent of Indonesians already have formed Covid-19 antibodies.

Wiku appealed to the general public to vaccinate those who have not yet received the vaccine, both the first and second dose vaccinations.

"I urge the public to be vaccinated at the nearest vaccine outlet," said Wiku who asserted its use in maintaining herd immunity.

Previously, Jokowi set the status of Covid-19 from pandemic to endemic and highlighted another impact of the determination of the new status of the Covid-19 outbreak, where the cost of treatment was borne by the people themselves.
