Argentina Football Team Holds Training Session at GBK on June 17

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Argentina football team arrived in Indonesia on Friday, June 16. Indonesia Football Association, or PSSI, chief Erick Thohir and other officials welcomed coach Lionel Scaloni and the players at Soekarno-Hatta Airport at around 9 PM Jakarta time.

The Argentina squad was scheduled to hold a closed training session at GBK's main stadium, Senayan on Saturday, June 17.

The decision to hold the closed training was aimed at preparing for the best condition of the players, as stated by the LOC for Indonesia vs Argentina friendly competition.

"Argentina national team will hold a closed training session on June 17 at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium,” said the LOC for Indonesia vs Argentina national teams game in a written statement.

"In order to keep the focus and privacy of the players, the team decided not to open access for the media during the training session."

The FIFA Matchday of the Indonesia national team against Argentina will be held at GBK's main stadium on Monday, June 19. The La Albiceleste squad had just competed against Australia at the Workers Stadium in Beijing, China on Thursday, June 15. Lionel Messi and German Pezzella scored the winning goal 2-0 for the Tango team. 

Unfortunately, Lionel Messi was omitted by coach Lionel  Scaloni from the team in the game against Indonesia. Angel Di Maria and Nicolas Otamendi were also omitted from the squad for Indonesia vs Argentina game.

Scaloni offered Lionel Messi and the other two Argentine stars to rest and go on vacation before starting the new season this mid-year.
