TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated that other than electric vehicle or EV purchase incentives, the government will grant incentives for hybrid cars marketed in the country. The stimulus will be based on the emissions produced.
Agus explained that hybrid automobiles have actually been subject to incentives through a reduction in the sales tax on luxury goods (PPnBM) as stipulated in Government Regulation No. 74 of 2021.
“So the incentives are no longer related to cc (engine size), but the level of emission,” Agus said in Karawang, West Java, Tuesday, June 13, 2023.
According to him, the incentives are not part of the carbon tax. The government will provide incentives and price regulations if the plug-in hybrid vehicles meet the predetermined emission level limits.
“It's actually the same as in the LCGC program. But we will expand this,” Minister Agus added.
As widely reported, the government has implemented an incentive scheme for the purchase of locally-produced electric vehicles. This policy also applies to battery-powered cars with a domestic component level (TKDN) of 40% or more.
