Jokowi Welcomes Iranian President's Visit at Bogor Palace

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Tuesday welcomed the visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi at the Bogor Presidential Palace. This meeting is expected to result in a number of agreements and an array of bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Iran.
Ebrahim Raisi and his entourage were welcomed with an honorable ‘gun for gun salute’ from 21 cannons before planting a tree as a symbolic gesture towards the peace and amity between the two countries.
The bilateral meeting is expected to produce around 10 cooperations in the field of preferential trade; science, technology, and innovation; visa exemption cooperation for holders of diplomatic passports; and service passports.
There will also be talks of cooperation in the field of halal products; customs; pharmaceutical, biological, and traditional medicine as well as cosmetics and food products; cooperation in eradicating the illicit circulation of narcotics, and cultural exchange.
The 2022 value of Indonesia-Iran trade cooperation reached US$257.2 million, which is a 23 percent growth compared to the previous year.
