TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Health Ministry has started sending health officers to Saudi Arabia to make preparations ahead of the arrival of the first batch of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims, expected on Wednesday, May 24.

The Health Ministry's Hajj Health Centre Head, Liliek Marhaendro Susilo, informed that 129 health officers departed for Saudi Arabia on the first flight batch on Saturday, May 20, while the second batch of health officers will embark on Friday, May 26.

"Officers departing on the first batch are to prepare health facilities so that Hajj pilgrims in the first flight batch will have a good impression when they arrive at the Holy Land," Susilo stated in a statement received on Saturday.

He explained that the health officers on the first departure batch consist of personnel stationed at airports and in Medina, the health awareness promotion team, and the emergency medical team.

"The officers will prepare health facilities in their own work areas to ensure that Hajj pilgrims receive optimum health services in the Holy Land," he said.

Susilo also asked officers in the health awareness promotion team to be prudent in determining the best time to disseminate health information to pilgrims.

"The health promotion team should decide the best time to disseminate the information to Hajj pilgrims. Do not convey it to exhausted pilgrims who have just disembarked from their flights," Susilo stated.

Hajj health officers must maintain their health and have a good rest to ensure that they will remain in prime condition to serve Hajj pilgrims optimally, he stressed.
