TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police decided to reinstate manual ticketing after being dismissed and introduced electronic traffic law enforcement or E-TLE.
“We see the tendency of people that instead of being more orderly, they keep violating the traffic because there are no traffic officers,” said the National Police Traffic Corps Head Inspector General Firman Shantyabudi on Monday, May 15, 2023.
Besides, the enforcement of manual ticketing is also triggered by the fact that not all traffic violations can be detected by electronic ticket cameras.
However, manual ticketing takes effect again without revoking electronic ticketing or e-ticketing. Officers will thus ticket and impose fines on violators at sight.
Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Director Sr. Comr. Latif Usman added that the police will not conduct a raid on vehicles.
“The enforcement of electronic fines is still running, but if the officer sees a violation, for example, dangerous [to road users], [the driver will be stopped and fined,” Usman said.
Manual ticketing was initially dismissed on October 25, 2022. At the same time, electronic traffic law enforcement was implemented E-ticketing is also enforced as an effort to prevent police officers from taking illegal levies.
