TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia U-22 National Team advanced to the final football match at SEA Games 2023. The final ticket was obtained after the Garuda Team won 3-2 against Vietnam in the match held at the National Olympic Stadium, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on Saturday, May 13.
Indonesia’s goals were scored by Komang Teguh Trisnanda, Muhammad Ferrari, and Muhammad Taufany Muslihuddin. While Vietnam’s goals were scored by Nguyen Van Tung and an own goal by Bagas Kaffa.
Indonesia still awaits for its final opponent at the SEA Games 2023. Thailand and Myanmar will compete to win another final ticket on Saturday night.
Today’s match marked Indonesia’s eight times to advance to the SEA Games final. Two of seven previous matches, Indonesia won twice of the previous seven matches, in 1987 and 1991.
Since the first time Indonesia joined the tournament in 1977, the national team in total had collected 2 golds, 5 silvers, and 5 bronze medals. In the soccer medal standings, Indonesia is still far behind Thailand (16 golds), Malaysia (6 golds), Myanmar (5 golds) and Vietnam (2 golds).
Indonesia got the first gold in 1987 in Jakarta, defeating Malaysia 1-0 in the final.
The second gold medal was at the 1991 SEA Games in Manila, the Philippines. At that time, Indonesia won 4-3 against Thailand on penalties. In normal time the two teams played 0-0.
