TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Ma’ruf Amin on Tuesday pressed state energy firm Pertamina to conduct better risk management and a thorough evaluation following the fire that yet again engulfed one of its oil refineries.
“What is important is management improvement to prevent another tragedy. The governance needs improvement, especially those linked to risk management,” said Ma’ruf Amin on April 4.
He conveyed the statement after monitoring the Central Java public service mall (MPP), Antaranews reported. The VP encouraged Pertamina to evaluate governance to minimize the risks that occur, especially on the risk management side.
Pertamina's Putri Tujuh Oil Refinery at Refinery Unit (RU) II Dumai in Riau went up in flames on April 1. The incident occurred not long after the Plumpang oil refinery in Jakarta exploded and caused a fire on March 3, which greatly affected nearby neighborhoods.
