TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Youth and Sports Minister Zainudin Amali inaugurated the Indonesian Presidium of Football Supporters (PNSSI) to help create a safe football ecosystem while executing Law No. 11 of 2022 concerning sports.
“This is an implementation of Law No. 11 of 2022 concerning sports, especially articles that regulate fans,” said Amali at the ministry’s auditorium, Jakarta, on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
Amali asked the newly-inaugurated members of PNSSI to conduct dissemination to supporters in the regions, both supporters of League 1, League 2, and League 3 to create a conducive football ecosystem.
“The most important thing is the spirit and willpower of you (members) who have just been inaugurated to create a good football ecosystem that is enjoyable to watch, and able to attain national and international achievements,” he remarked.
The chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir had also announced that there would be a committee to take care of the fans, Amali informed. He thus hoped that PNSSI would collaborate with the football federations.
Assistant for National Police Chief Inspector General Agung Setya Imam Effendi, who also attended the inauguration ceremony, hoped that PNSSI could keep fans in order and make situations safe in watching football matches.
He also hoped that incidents that are detrimental to Indonesian football, especially those that claimed lives such as the Kanjuruhan Stadium Tragedy, would not recur with the presence of the PNSSI.
