TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) released a weather forecast for all regions of Yogyakarta for the next three months.
“The precipitation from February to March is categorized in a medium to a high level,” said Head of the Yogyakarta Climatology Station, Reni Kraningtyas, on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.
Reni explained that the rainfall intensity in February will averagely be 201-500 millimeters per month, while in March, it will slightly be lowered to around 151-400 millimeters per month.
“In April 2023, the rainfall intensity in Yogyakarta will be in a low to a high level at about 0-500 millimeters per month,” Reni added.
Based on the observation of the physical symptoms and the dynamics of the atmosphere and oceans, the wind above Java Island, particularly Yogyakarta, blows from the southern area and is dominantly dry.
“Based on the situation, we ask the public to stay alert for potential hydrometeorological disasters,” Reni underlined.
The potential hydrometeorological disasters include strong winds, landslides, tornados, and floods. BMKG Yogyakarta also reminded farmers to prepare cropping patterns based on the situation to prevent crop failure.
