TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Metro Jaya Police narcotics unit deputy director Adj. Commissioner Dony Alexander on Monday said the suspect identified as MRK – who was arrested on January 14 for mass-producing and trafficking vape liquids containing methamphetamine – had also planned to produce ecstasy.
Police came to this conclusion after confiscating the chemical ingredients from the suspect’s rented house in West Jakarta’s Kembangan area. Especially after police found 20 kilograms of sulfur they suspected would be used to produce thousands of pills.
“We discovered roughly 1,138 grams of what we suspect to be meth. It was initially intended to be mixed into the [vape liquid] and also produce ecstasy,” said the police commissioner in a press conference on Monday, January 16.
There were 363 50ml vape liquid bottles and 41 30ml-sized bottles branded as “Coffee latte” that were ready to be marketed. Police also confiscated the equipment used in the production of the drug liquids and ecstasy, from which the suspect sourced its raw materials from Iran and Hongkong.
The suspect now faces the maximum death sentence or life imprisonment under Law No.35/2009 on narcotics.
