AirNav Records 72,670 Flights during Christmas and New Year Holidays

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-run air navigation company AirNav Indonesia recorded 72,670 aircraft movements in Indonesian skies during the Christmas and New Year holidays, or the Nataru period.
“The number is based on the report from 52 Nataru posts held in cooperation with aviation stakeholders at branch offices, sub-branch offices, and flight navigation service units across Indonesia from December 18, 2022. The posts are closed on January 4, 2023,” said AirNav President Director Polana B Pramesti in Jakarta on Friday, January 6, 2023.
The peak of the year-end holiday occurred on December 22, 2022, with a total of 4,995 flights, while the returning peak was recorded on December 28, 2022, with 4,412 flights, Polana outlined.
The total aircraft movements increased by 37 percent compared to the same period last year.
In the Nataru period of 2021-2022, the company logged 52,871 aircraft movements.
“We also noted that during the Nataru period 2022 - 2023, AirNav served 2,755 extra flights and 54,369 regular flights in 150 branches,” Polana explained.
Additionally, the company issued 346 Notice to Airmen or Notam and 29 Notam on volcanic ash (Ashtam) following the volcano activity of Mount Semeru (11 Ashtam), Mount Dukono (14 Ashtam), Mount Semeru (7 Ashtam), Mount Krakatau (2 Ashtam), and Mount Ibu (2 Ashtam).
"We are grateful that flight navigation services during the Nataru period run well, smoothly, safely, and efficiently," the AirNav official concluded.
