TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo, or Jokowi, is optimistic for the Indonesian national team to win the 2022 AFF Cup. He expressed his confidence after watching the match of Indonesia vs Thailand live at the Gelora Bung Karno main stadium, Jakarta, Thursday, Dec. 29. Indonesia was held 1-1 by Thailand.

Jokow impressed with the game played by Indonesia team coached by Shin Tae-Yong. "Maintain that optimism, and keep playing well like that," the President said about the chances of winning, as stated in a press release on Thursday.

The President with the First Lady Iriana Jokowi watched Indonesia vs Thailand match at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium. After watching the match, Jokowi considered that the Indonesian national team had fought fiercely.

He hopes that the national team can qualify for the group phase and continue to advance to the final of this year's AFF Cup tournament. "Very, very good. All of our national team players have given their best, I think the most important thing is to enter the final, that's what we hope for," said Jokowi.

The match ended with a draw, both national teams collected seven points. Thailand stood in the first rank in Group A with a superior goal difference.
