TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) included two suspects involved in the investigation of child acute kidney injury cases in its most wanted list.
National Police spokesperson grand commissioner Nurul Azizah said the two suspects on the list are “E” who acts as the president director of CV Samudera Chemical and “AR” the director of the same company.
The fugitive list was issued after investigators discovered evidence of Propylene Glycol (PG) mixed into medicines sold by the company. This substance is deemed to be the source of ethylene glycol (EG) and diethylene glycol (DEG) contamination in syrup medications for children.
In the same investigation, police named two corporations as suspects namely pharmaceutical firm PT Afi Farma and medication raw material supplier CV Samudra Chemical. Both of the aforementioned companies are deemed responsible for the cough syrup medication contamination that caused mass cases of acute kidney injury in children in Indonesia.
