Mike Bohl, a doctor who often provides health education, says that the main motivation behind weight loss is generally physical appearance. People can see it in the mirror, in clothes that are too small, or in scales.

However, medically speaking, some warning signs can tell a person that it is time to lose weight. This sign can be known after a physical examination by the doctor. Knowing the dangerous symptoms can help prevent weight issues before they worsen.

Here are the five warning signs that it's time to lose weight, as reported by eatthis.com:

1. High blood pressure

One of the most common chronic diseases of being overweight is high blood pressure. This condition sets the risk of stroke, heart disease, kidney disease, and others.

"While many medications can be used to treat high blood pressure, one of the most important things to manage is to lose weight. Start with dieting and exercising more," says Bohl.

2. Cholesterol or high blood sugar

Another reason why a consistent physical exam is important is that the doctor can determine if one needs blood tests for pre-diabetes, diabetes, and high cholesterol. Diabetes and high cholesterol are serious chronic diseases that can cause damage to the kidneys, nerves and eyes, as well as blood and heart disease. These two health conditions can be addressed by losing weight.

3. Snoring

“Sleep apnea is a medical condition characterized by troubled breathing during sleep, and one of the biggest risk factors is being overweight. "Sleep apnea causes poor sleep, fatigue during the day, and increases the risk of chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes," says Bohl. One of the symptoms of sleep apnea is snoring. Thus, when a person starts snoring during sleep, it is something that should be cautious about.

4. Body aches

Bohl says that being overweight puts more strain on the body. Bones and joints are under greater stress, and muscles have to work harder to maintain posture and movement. "As a result, being overweight can cause pain, whether it's in the knees, lower back, or elsewhere related to the weight, this indicates that its best to lose weight now," says Bohl.

5. Difficult to carry out daily activities

When getting used to doing certain tasks every day and suddenly finding them more difficult to complete, there may be something wrong with the body. "If it finds increasingly difficult to walk long distances or climb stairs without shortness of breath, it's time to find out if being overweight is to blame." So, if wish for activities to be no longer difficult, it's time to lose weight.
