TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Youth and Sports Minister Zainudin Amali has emphasized that resuming Indonesian League 1 2022–2023 following the Kanjuruhan tragedy will require synergy and agreement from all stakeholders in implementing the stadium security and safety regulation standards.

"Hence, the National Police needs one more special coordination meeting regarding the security (standards)," he said after a coordination meeting on the implementation of Indonesian League 1 at the headquarters of the Youth and Sports Ministry on Monday.

He held the coordination meeting with the representatives of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI); the organizer of professional football leagues in Indonesia, PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB); the police; as well as several ministries.

Meanwhile, the special coordination meeting requested by the police is planned to be held on Tuesday (November 29, 2022) at the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta.

According to the police, the meeting is necessary to further thresh out the security regulations for Indonesian League 1 with PSSI, PT LIB, and the related ministries in detail.

"Based on it (the results of the special coordination meeting), the National Police will decide whether this competition can be continued or not," the minister said.

Synergy between stakeholders is important to carry out Police Regulation (Perpol) Number 10 of 2022 concerning security while organizing sports competitions, which was promulgated on November 4, he noted.

Meanwhile, the National Police chief’s assistant for operations, Inspector General Agung Setya Effendi, said that further security and safety coordination is part of the police’s support for the implementation of national football competitions.

"We support the re-organization of the league by fulfilling several provisions stipulated in Perpol 10 of 2022, including those related to risk assessment,” he added.

Furthermore, the police will review the stadiums used by soccer clubs along with the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry, Health Ministry, organizing committee, PT LIB, as well as PSSI.

After the inspection, the stakeholders will decide which stadiums are fit to host the matches of Indonesian League 1 2022–2023, Effendi said.

Chairperson of PSSI, Mochamad Iriawan, and general director of PT LIB, Ferry Paulus, said that they supported the police’s efforts for better implementation of the league.

"The Perpol is one of the results of (the work of) the task force (Indonesian Football Transformation Task Force). We hope that the competition can resume, thus the players' performance can be maintained," Iriawan added.
