TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police have named Pertamina’s fuel truck driver and co-driver as suspects in the fatal accident on Jalan Alternatif Cibubur, Bekasi, West Java. Both were deemed negligent in driving, causing the loss of people's life.
A spokesman for Metro Jaya Police Sr. Comr. Endra Zulpan said the suspect naming was carried out by the investigation team from Metro Jaya Police’s Sub-Directorate of Law Enforcement and the Bekasi Police’s Traffic Unit.
“Two suspects have been identified in this case. They are S, the driver of the fuel truck, and K, the co-driver,” said Zulpan at Metro Jaya Police HQ, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 19, 2022.
According to him, the suspects would face charges under Law No. 22 of 2009 articles on road traffic and transportation in which the maximum penalty is imprisonment for six years and a fine of up to Rp2 million.
However, Zulpan underlined that the investigation team is still examining the crime scene. “It is temporarily suspected due to brake failure, but of course, Metro Police’s Traffic Unit assisted by the National Police’s Traffic Unit will conduct a more in-depth investigation by deploying a team of the Traffic Accident Analysis (TTA) to find the concrete cause,” said Zulpan.
