Survey: More Men Shop Online than Women in Indonesia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A survey on 'E-commerce Consumers' Behavior' by Kredivo showed that male customers shop more online in 2021 compared to females. The research showed that e-commerce transactions volume by men reached 62 percent, while women's was 38 percent.
The survey also revealed that the value of transactions is also bigger from men with 64 percent against women's 36 percent.
Kredivo's VP of Marketing & Communications, Indina Andamari, said the research showed that male consumers dominated transactions in e-commerce last year. This has been the trend since 2020, with the percentage continuing to increase.
According to Indina, apart from the fact that online shopping has become an integral part of people's daily lives, the presence of various digital payment methods such as pay-later options have also made it easier to establish an online shopping habit.
"As a player in the digital credit payment industry, we welcome this trend and see it as a positive signal towards the inclusiveness of access to digital services that are becoming more accessible," she said on July 6, Wednesday.
Kredivo's survey used primary data with 16 million samples of payment transactions from 1.5 million samples of Kredivo users in Indonesia's top five e-commerce platforms in 2021.
