Eid Return Traffic to Peak on May 6: Transportation Ministry

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry’s Director-General of Land Transportation, Budi Setiyadi, said the Eid homecoming return traffic this year would peak on Friday, May 6, 2022.

“Please return home gradually beginning tomorrow to avert traffic congestion,” Budi said via text message on Monday, May 2, 2022.

The Transportation Ministry and the National Police’s Traffic Corps have prepared scenarios should deadlocks occur at several busy points—among them the odd-even and the one-way policies.

He added there had been zero complaints from the public against the one-way scenario for the imminent return traffic. “There have been no complaints. This [scenario] aims at serving the people,” he said.

State-owned toll road operator PT Jasa Marga recorded some 1.75 million vehicles left the Greater Jakarta area since D-10 to D-1 of Eid al-Fitr or 18.6 percent in increase compared to the normal period in November 2021.
