TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Police said the capital’s condition was conducive during takbiran (the eve of Eid al-Fitr) on Sunday night, May 1, 2022.
“The situation in Jakarta was safe and conducive during the night of takbiran of Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijri,” said Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Endra Zulpan on Monday, May 2, 2022.
He said the people were compliant with the police’s calls to secure Eid celebrations, including to refrain from making convoys on takbiran night.
“Generally, the people conformed to the government’s call not to hold takbiran convoys to maintain the health protocols. There were no significant incidents,” he continued.
Endra said the Jakarta Police would like to thank the people for their contribution to keeping the situation conducive in Jakarta since takbiran until after Eid prayers.
“The Jakarta Police would like to thank the people for complying with the government’s call regarding the health protocols on takbiran night. This is proof that society has become more intelligent and aware of the importance of the health protocols,” he said.
On behalf of the Jakarta Police, Endra also wished everyone a happy Eid al-Fitr and hoped the peaceful and safe ambience would surround the residents of Jakarta during this year’s Eid celebrations.
“The Jakarta Police also wish the residents of Jakarta a happy Eid al-Fitr 1442 Hijri, please forgive our physical and emotional wrongdoings,” he said.
