Japanese PM Fumio Kishida Visits Jokowi at Bogor Presidential Palace

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on Friday afternoon welcomed Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at the Bogor Presidential Palace. Cabinet members were all present in the welcoming ceremony.
Prior to planting a sandalwood tree in the Bogor Palace’s backyard, Jokowi took Kishida for a brief tour around the presidential palace.
The prime minister arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang at 01:50 p.m. Western Indonesia Time. His visit to Indonesia kicked off his series of foreign visits to Vietnam, Thailand, Italy, and the United Kingdom. Kishida is scheduled to visit the Heroes Cemetary (Taman Makam Pahlawan Kalibata) in South Jakarta’s Kalibata area on Saturday.
According to East Asia and Pacific Director at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Santo Darmosumarto, Indonesia is the second Asian country Kishida visited after he took office as prime minister of Japan, replacing Yoshihide Suga.
He mentioned that at the meeting, the center stage of the discussion will be about finding ways and efforts to cement bilateral cooperation so as to accelerate economic recovery at the regional and global levels.
