Eid Homecoming 2022; Nearly 600,000 Vehicles Leave Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned toll road operator Jasa Marga recorded that 598,538 vehicles started leaving Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, and Bekasi or Jabotabek for Eid homecoming or mudik this year.
“A total of 598,538 vehicles have left Jabotabek ten to seven days before Eid al-Fitr 1443 H,” said Jasa Marga spokesman Dwimawan Heru in an official statement.
According to him, the figure was obtained from the accumulated number of vehicles passing the toll gates (GT), namely GT Cikupa to Merak, GT Ciawi to Puncak, GT Cikampek Utama, and GT Kalihurip Utama to Trans Java and Bandung.
“The traffic volume leaving Jabotabek decreased by 0.3 percent when compared to normal conditions in November 2021 with a total of 600,107 vehicles,” Dwimawan explained.
In detail, vehicles heading to Trans Java toll road via GT Cikampek Utama of Jakarta-Cikampek toll road amounted to 159,610, an increase of 17.1 percent from normal traffic. Vehicles leaving Jabotabek to Bandung via Kalihurip Utama of Cipularang toll road reached 123,238, down by 8.6 percent.
Meanwhile, the Eid homecoming traffic leaving Jabotabek towards Merak via GT Cikupa of Tangerang-Merak toll road was recorded at 187,495 vehicles, down 2.2 percent. The number of vehicles leaving Jabotabek towards Puncak via GT Ciawi of Jagorawi toll road amounted to 128,195, down by 6.6 percent of that in November 2021.
