TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Regional Representatives Council (DPRD Jakarta) highlighted the capital city's plan to build four trash intermediate treatment facilities (ITF), which are yet to be constructed. The plan was initially proposed to reduce dependency on the Bantargebang integrated waste treatment area (TPST) located in West Java's Bekasi City.
"None of them [waste treatment areas] have been constructed or operating," said DPRD member Anggara Wicitra Sastroamidjojo in reading out DPRD's recommendation for Jakarta governor's accountability report or LKPJ for the 2021 regional budget on Monday, April 25, 2022.
The Jakarta administration, as announced by governor Anies Baswedan, is planning to build Intermediate waste treatment facilities spread across a number of areas, which will be co-operated by Jakarta Propertindo or Jakpro and Prumda Sarana Jaya,
Due to the absence of development on this issue, the Jakarta DPRD officially requested the Jakarta government to find alternate solutions to the city's waste issues. The Jakarta DPRD plans to hold another meeting with the city's environmental agency, Jakpro, and Sarana Jaya in order to accelerate the construction of the solutions.
"Considering Jakarta is amidst a trash emergency situation, one of the solutions is to procure environmentally friendly waste disposal tools at a smaller community level," Anggara said in hopes to reduce dependence on the Bantargebang landfill.
