TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Upstream Oil and Gas Special Regulatory Task Force (SKK Migas) on Friday announced the finding of a new oil and gas reserve off the shore of Natuna, Riau Province, which was discovered by a Kuwait oil exploration firm that has partnered with SKK Migas, KUFPEC Indonesia.
"The discovery of this well by a foreign company from Kuwait shows that Indonesia's oil and gas potential remains attractive in the eyes of international investors," said SKK Migas deputy of planning Benny Lubiantara on February 11, Antaranews reported.
KUFPEC discovered the new oil reserve through a drill stem test at an exploration well located in the Natuna Anambas Block, Anambas-2X. The company aims at drilling down to the depth of 10,509 feet.
KUFPEC president director Sheik Nawaf Saud Al-Sabah acknowledged the finding as a success and reflects the company’s ability as an operator able to preserve the environment in its offshore exploration drilling.
Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC) is an international upstream company engaging in the exploration, development and production of crude oil and natural gas outside the State of Kuwait, and subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC).
