TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Matraman Police Criminal Investigation Unit arrested two drivers of public minivan, or angkot, identified as M and YS for consuming marijuana while waiting for passengers at Rawamangun Terminal, Pulogadung.
“The two suspects are drivers of the public minivan operated by Koperasi Wahana Kalpika (KWK). Both are arrested at Rawamangun Terminal,” said Matraman Police Chief Comr. Tedjo Asmoro on Thursday, September 16.
When arrested, the suspects were smoking marijuana in the driver's seat. Investigators made the arrest after monitoring them in disguise as passengers.
After capturing M and YS, investigators developed the case and searched for the drug suppliers. “Both of them admitted that they got marijuana from a dealer in Bekasi. From there, we immediately carried out further investigations,” Tedjo explained.
The police managed to detain the marijuana dealer named Sander in East Bekasi. The police confiscated evidence in the form of one kilogram of marijuana packed in various small packages.
The three suspects were still being questioned at the Matraman Police. They were charged with Article 111 of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics abuse and faced a maximum prison sentence of 12 years. “We are still hunting down the dealer,” said Tedjo.
