Kampung Susun Akuarium Inauguration; Anies Baswedan: 107 Units are Ready

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has stated that the inauguration of the Kampung Susun Akuarium, a newly-built residential complex building, is the latest government’s attempt to resolve housing problems through colloquy. The government and society can exchange ideas in order to find solutions.
"This is a lesson for us in the government," he said after the inauguration in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, Tuesday, August 17, 2021.
Previously, the former governor of Jakarta Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok evicted the residents who were living at the location of Kampung Akuarium. The establishment is illegal, because it violates Regional Regulation (Perda) number 1 of 2014 concerning Detailed and Spatial Planning (RDTR).
Anies then rebuilt housing for affected residents in the same location. The name of this new residence is Kampung Susun Akuarium. The Jakarta government will build five blocks with a total of 241 units. The ones that have been finished and inaugurated are Block B and Block D with a total of 107 units.
"Today, the two sides, the right and the left, are in happy condition," he said. The right and left parties he meant referred to the Jakarta government and the ex-evicted residents.
The building permit (IMB) of the Kampung Susun Akuarium was issued on March 31, 2021. Meanwhile, the certificate of function-worthiness (SLF) was only issued on August 16, 2021.
Anies said that the construction process of the Kampung Susun Akuarium was not instant. It takes a long time because the government listens to what the citizens have to say.
According to him, the government does have the authority and human resources to build flats. However, the residents of Kampung Susun Akuarium understand better what they need.
For this reason, the Jakarta government and the community sat together to discuss the construction of the Kampung Susun Akuarium, starting from the aspects of design, management, to the total units needed.
