Political Billboards Installation in Bogor during Pandemic Sparks Public Outcry

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Billboards showcasing political figures such as Golkar Party chairperson Airlangga Hartarto and PDIP politician Puan Maharani are scattered in numerous locations across Bogor city and Bogor regency.
Other political figures with faces on large billboards in the region’s main road are Democrat Party chairperson Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Gerindra Party chair chief patron Prabowo Subianto, and PKB chairman Muhaimin Iskandar.
“It’s still a long way to go and the COVID crises are still afoot, yet they already began campaigning. How can we not be offended by these state officials,” said Solihin, a resident of Tanah Sareal, Bogor city on Sunday, August 8.
Based on Tempo’s observation, Airlangga Hartarto had the most number of billboards installed in the region, followed by Puan Maharani.
However, Golkar Party politician and Bogor DPRD deputy speaker Eka Wardhana denied allegations that politicians had started to campaign for the 2024 presidential election. He insisted that the billboards were only meant to motivate party members in Bogor.
