TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Communication and Informatics Ministry (Kominfo) is currently investigating an alleged data breach of Indonesian citizenship personal data (KTP), which is currently spreading in Twitter.
"The Kominfo Ministry is currently investigating the alleged data breach," said Communication and Informatics Minister Johnny G. Plate as cited by Antara on Thursday, May 20, 2021.
Citing Antaranews, Information about the breach was traced back to a Twitter account @ndagels, which tweeted at least 279 million personal data of Indonesian citizens (WNI) that were sold by a supposed hacker.
Another account, @nuicemedia, also suggests that the breach does not only reveal people's unique citizen ID number (NIK) but also their current status and wages. It is suspected that the data has been transacted at an online forum forumraid.com and is believed to have come from the Health Care and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan).
The Twitter posts tweeted by the two accounts have been retweeted by more than 8 thousand users collectively
