TEMPO.CO, JakartaWisma Atlet Kemayoran Emergency Hospital for COVID-19 in Central Jakarta will no longer accept patients without symptoms or asymptomatic carriers, announced the hospital commander Marine Lt. Col. Muhammad Arifin.

According to him, the four towers of the makeshift hospital used to serve as an athlete’s dormitory would be used to treat coronavirus disease patients developing symptoms. “Because [the number of] patients with symptoms increases and exceeds the limit to over 75 percent,” said Arifin on Monday.

He reiterated that the hospital had no longer treated asymptomatic carriers or locally known OTG since Saturday, Dec. 19. Patients without symptoms will be asked to undergo self-isolation in Tower 8 of Wisma Atlet Pademangan or hotels designated as isolation venues.

“The emergency hospital is now truly for patients with symptoms only,” Arifin underlined.

The government first opened Tower 6 and Tower 7 of Wisma Atlet Kemayoran as the emergency hospital on March 23, 2020. Tower 6 has 1,300 beds and Tower 7 has 1,578 beds to accommodate patients with mild to moderate symptoms.

Tower 4 and Tower 5 were then opened as isolation venues for COVID-19 asymptomatic carriers. The two have 1,546 beds and 1,570 beds, respectively. On Nov. 30, Tower 4 was confirmed to accommodate patients with symptoms.
