Bali National Park and Huawei Partner in Sound Detection Technology

26 October 2020 11:12 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Bali National Park (TNBB) located in the Bali Province is currently seeking a partnership with Huawei in an attempt to realize the ‘smart forest guardian’ program which will utilize artificial intelligence (AI).

This comes as a direct partnership between Indonesia’s Environment and Forestry Ministry (KLHK) with the Chinese multinational technology firm.

“The first object to be explored is the TNBB in the partnership,” said Agus Ngurah Kresna Kepakisan di Singaraja, head of the West Bali National Park on Sunday, October 25.

Representatives of the Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment, the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN), the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), KLHK, and representatives from Huawei have reportedly made a visit to the TNBB ahead of the major project.

The technology from Huawei that is planned to be utilized in the national park is the equipment used to detect sound within the forest which will be able to differentiate sounds coming from wildlife living in the West Bali forest.

This technology will also be able to detect sounds coming from saw machines and other suspicious sounds related to illegal logging and other criminal activities.
