TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir said that in addition to changing the composition of Garuda Indonesia's board of directors, he would also replace the airline's commissioners. Last year, Erick Thohir fired CEO Ary Askhara in relation to the smuggling of a Harley Davidson bike into Indonesia using the airline's new A330-900 Neo aircraft.
Speaking at the Indonesia Millenial Summit 2020 this morning, January 17, Minister Erick said he will appoint new people as president director and chief commissioner. He declined to name who those people are.
Erick Thohir said that a leadership overhaul is important as every SOE must be lead by orang-orang who are with good character and integrity.
Currently, Garuda Indonesia's chief commissioner is Sahala Lumban Gaol, while the position of president director is temporarily taken by Fuad Rizal, who also serves as finance and risk management director at the state airline.
The announcement of Garuda Indonesia's new board of directors and commissioners will be made during an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders on January 22.
