TEMPO.CO, JakartaE-commerce Bukalapak is ranked Indonesia’s top startup based on Startup Ranking website per June 22, 2019.

Startup Ranking recorded the unicorn’s monthly traffic at 131.7 million visits. Followed by the e-commerce led by CEO Achmad Zaky are Blibli, Traveloka, Zalora Indonesia, Zenius Education, Blanja, Alodokter, Ruangguru, Dokter Sehat, and Elevenia.

Early this year, the platform stated that decacorn title is not their goal in the business, but to empower small traders and enterprises.

“Decacorn or unicorn is not a thing we seek as the main goal. The main, short-term purpose of Bukalapak is how we can continuously develop and support small, medium enterprises in Indonesia,” said the e-commerce president Fajrin Rasyid in January 2019.

As of the end of 2018, the platform had 40 million traders or shops, while the users amounted to 50 million people.

To date, Bukalapak has no plan to acquire a company or startup to develop its business, yet it constantly expands the services, such as BukaGlobal so Indonesian SMEs could connect to markets of other countries, including Malaysia.
