TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Soekarno-Hatta International Airport has stationed multiple thermo-scanners at its Terminal 3 and Terminal 2 gates to prevent monkeypox carriers from entering Indonesia.
“There are six thermo-scanners that are evenly installed in the International Terminal 3 and Terminal 2 F,” said the head of Soekarno-Hatta’s health office Anas Ma’ruf to Tempo today.
Prior to the emergence of the monkeypox case, the airport would usually only install 1 to 2 scanners and does not direct all of the passengers through it. However, in this case, Anas promised that all units would be activated and passengers will have to pass through it.
“If a passenger is found to suffer from fever over 38 degrees Celsius, our personnel will direct the person to undergo further surveillance,” said Anas.
The person suspected of carrying monkeypox will be handled by doctors that are posted 24 hours at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport. As previously reported, the World Health Organization (WHO) discovered monkeypox in African nations such as Congo and Nigeria.
