Ma'ruf on Prabowo's Largest Campaign Claim: We'll See About That

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice presidential candidate number 01 Ma'ruf Amin responded to the claim saying the Prabowo - Sandiaga campaign on Sunday, April 7 was the largest campaign with the highest participant held in Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) stadium since the reformation.

The running mate of Joko Widodo or Jokowi in the 2019 presidential election said that more people would attend his campaign event on April 13.

“That’s (Prabowo - Sandiaga campaign) a regular event, I think. We'll see about that on April 13,” said Ma’ruf in a written statement on Sunday, April 7.

Ma'ruf recalled more people presented in the previous electoral campaign in 2014, and the number was higher than in the Prabowo - Sandiaga campaign’s in GBK yesterday. “Pak Jokowi was able to bring greater mass in 2014, and hopefully, will be higher in the upcoming campaign event,” said the chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).

The incumbent candidate Jokowi - Ma'ruf was scheduled to hold a grand concert on April 13 themed United White Concert “Towards Victory of Advanced Indonesia” in the GBK main stadium.

“The concert would be similar than the past two-finger salute concert on July 5, 2014.
