TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - MRT Jakarta corporate secretary Muhammad Kamaluddin said that the company has yet to step up the headway of Ratangga despite the train boarded 70,000 passengers per day.
"The 10-minute headway is still normal, and we will maintain it,” said Kamaluddin in a phone call with Tempo on Thursday, April 4.
The first Indonesian subway boarded 65,000 passengers on its initial day of commercial operation on Monday, April 1, 2019. According to Kamaluddin, the current headway is still capable of accommodating all passengers.
In addition, there is no worrying note regarding the headway implementation thus far. Throughout the first month of its public operation, MRT Jakarta operates seven out of 16 train sets with six cars for each sets.
However, Kamaluddin added, MRT Jakarta planned to expedite the headway to five minutes starting May 2019 and operate 14 trains sets, while the other two will be allocated as supporting trains.
"The headway platform with the train is still normal. We will increase it gradually," Kamaluddin added.
