TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned ship manufacturer PT PAL had just handed its third production of submarines to the Indonesian Navy or TNI AL.
This latest submarine, unlike the previous two which is the product of a partnership between PT PAL with South Korean company, is mainly built independently by PT PAL in Tanjung Perak, Surabaya, following a technological transfer from South Korea.
The three submarines ordered by TNI AL comes from the inaugural technology transfer between the two parties. The first was named KRI Nagapasa-403 in August 2017 while the second is the KRI Ardadedali 404 inaugurated at the Daewoo Shipyard in South Korea.
TNI AL plans for the official inauguration to be done by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo himself, which the TNI still awaits for the fixed date yet to be given by the government.
