TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Wahyu Nayaka's men's doubles pair Arya Pangkaryanira/Ade Yusuf Santoso made their way into the second round of the 2019 Super 750 Malaysia Open level badminton tournament being held at Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In the first round match which took place on Tuesday (2/4), Wahyu/Ade managed to defeat Danish pair Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup in three games that lasted for 59 minutes, with a score of 21-19, 24-26 and 21-8.

After winning the first game, Ade claimed to have lost focus and concentration during the second game, thereby making mistakes. It ultimately resulted in their defeat.

"In the second game, we made a lot of mistakes. We lost focus and failed to succeed, "Ade said in a PBSI press release received by Antara in Jakarta on Tuesday.

However, they turned the tide on their Danish opponents in the third game, when Wahyu/Ade opened with a score of 5-0 and continued to excel until the end of the game.

For Wahyu, the victory avenged the results of their second meeting, where Wahyu/Ade were defeated by Kim/Anders with a score of 18-21, 21-15 and 20-22.

To know whom they will play against at the second round match which will take place on Wednesday (3/4), Wahyu/Ade are awaiting the outcome of the match between Liu Cheng/Zhang Nan from China and Mohamad Arif Abdul Latif / Nur Mohamad Azryn Ayub from Malaysia.

"We must be prepared to face any opponent. We will watch their match videos and discuss our strategy with the coach," Wahyu said.

The 2019 Malaysia Open tournament is being held from 2 to 7 April 2019 at Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The total prize for the super 750 level badminton tournament is 700,000 US dollars.
